At Promptly, we take your privacy seriously. This policy describes how we handle, process, and protect your data when you use the Promptly browser extension and its related services.
What Data We Collect
Promptly is designed to protect your personal details. We collect and transmit only the data required to provide our core prompt optimization features:
- Prompt Inputs: When you request optimization, the text inside your focused input field is sent securely to the Google Gemini API to analyze structure and deliver prompt engineering recommendations.
- Authentication & Billing Tokens: If you purchase a premium Pro subscription, standard billing session metadata and license statuses are transmitted via ExtensionPay to activate paid features.
How Data Is Stored
We do not store your prompt texts, generated results, or personally identifiable billing records on any external developer-managed databases.
All extension configurations (your custom shortcode variables, selected presets, Gemini API keys, and daily usage quota counters) are saved locally on your physical device using the Chrome Extension chrome.storage.local API.
Third-Party Services
To provide prompt optimizations and handle transactions, we integrate securely with the following third-party APIs:
- Google Gemini API: Prompts are analyzed using Google's secure AI model. Please refer to the Google Privacy Policy for information on their data handling.
- ExtensionPay: Premium subscription payments and licensing verification are managed securely by ExtensionPay using Stripe. Please refer to ExtensionPay for their terms and policies.
Data Sharing and Sales
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data, browser logs, prompt histories, or settings with third-party advertising networks, data brokers, or any other entities.
Data Retention and Deletion
Since all settings and preferences are stored locally on your device, you have complete control over your data. Uninstalling the Promptly extension from Chrome immediately and permanently deletes all stored variables, preferences, and Gemini API keys.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material modifications, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
